ILA 1998

ILA Berlin 1998 was a fascinating showcase of aviation at the turn of the millennium, bringing together a remarkable variety of military, civil, and experimental aircraft. I visited the exhibition on May 2nd, 1998, and had the opportunity to capture a unique snapshot of an aviation era that has since become history.

Among the many highlights were the AH-64A Apache, the impressive Antonov An-70, and one of the Eurofighter prototypes, alongside a wide selection of aircraft from Germany and around the world. From modern military technology and transport aircraft to helicopters and other unusual exhibits, ILA 1998 offered an incredibly diverse collection of aviation.

All photographs in this gallery were originally taken on analogue film and have since been carefully scanned for digital presentation. Apart from minimal adjustments, the images have been left largely as they were captured, preserving the authentic look and character of the original film photographs.

This gallery brings together my photographs from that memorable visit, preserving not only the aircraft, technology, and atmosphere of ILA Berlin 1998, but also the photographic character of the time. For aviation enthusiasts, it offers a fascinating look back at an era when several aircraft that are now well established were still representing the future of aviation.
